Many teams that have older siblings that are creative have also designed and made their own as well.

Team Shirts -

Many teams will get team shirts for the parents and siblings that have the team logo and the child's name and number on the back.  These are a great way to show your support for your child and his team.  The kids really like them as well to wear to practice.  The estimated cost to tell your parents is $20 per shirt.  However, once you place your order the cost may go down.  You can request a proof before you finalize the order as well.

Team Pictures -

Dave Stock Photography will be our team photographer this year.  They can be reached at 972-966-0312 when needed.

Picture Day for Spring 2011 Season is scheduled for the weekend of April 8 - 10

We ask the teams to arrive one hour before the start of their games to get pictures done.  Order forms will be emailed out to parents before picture days.  I will also get some forms to the team mom's if you call and request them (I can meet you to deliver them if needed).  Tell parents it is really appreciated if they can have them filled out before they get there.  It really makes things go faster.

Those with early games on Saturday can contact me to request a time slot on Friday to avoid having to get there so early.

Team Parties -

At the conclusion of the season, each team normally has a team party!  If you have not handed out team trophies, this is a good time to do so.  Team mom's, you should also send an email out to the parents to collect money for a small gift for the coach to say Thank You.  Our coaches are the reason we can provide this opportunity to our kids.  They give up a lot of their time and lots of patience to teach our kids the wonderful game of baseball.   Also this is up to each team, but I normally let parents know that siblings are part of the fun as well.  This helps parents not have to leave a child out and can help you on keeping costs down as well.

Some Ideas by cost:

Under $18 per child

Over $25 per child

TEAM Mom Weekly Duties

1.    Snacks -

After each game, the kids normally get a snack from the parents to celebrate a job well done.  As Team Mom, you should create a schedule for team snacks to be provided by parents of the players.  Some suggestions are:

  • to assign games by last name as a starting point, then send out and request any changes needed.
  • print out the schedule and circulate at practice to get parents to sign up for a weekend.

Any way that works for you, but I would recommend sending an email each week to remind the family that is to bring snacks.  You may also want to remind your parents that kids will be getting into a car shortly afterward for our younger kids.  We once got white powder sugar donuts for an early game.  Aside from the sugar, it also left a white mess in cars.

2.    Restrooms -

Remind parents to have the players take a restroom break before the games and practices.  The restrooms are a good distance and we would like for them to not miss any of the game.

3.    Rain Outs -

Please tell your parents to put the RAIN OUT number in their cell phones.  When in doubt, call the number.  Your coaches will communciate with you as well, but sometimes that may take longer as they are trying to contact many players at once.  Team Mom, you may be the one sending the emails as well if your coach needs help in that area.

4.    Water / Sun Block-

Remind your parents to always bring water to games and practice to help keep the kids hydrated.  Once it heats up, it is always good to keep a bottle of sun block around as needed.  Remind your parents to bring it as well.  It is really sunny on most all of our fields.

5.    Uniforms-

Help your coach out by passing along his requests for pants, socks and belts.  Let your parent's know that DICK'S will do a discount day to help save money on those costs.

6.    Practices-

It is helpful to send maps to the practices for the first few times to help parents find the location.

As a Team Mom myself, I try to send one email each week to clarify all the above.  It includes:

  • That weeks practice times & location,
  • That weeks game times & field locations and who is home team,
  • Reminders to bring water and sun block,
  • Reminder of who is up for snack duty that weekend.

Since you will become the one sending out many of the emails, you will get parent emails about players that will not make practice / games.  Be sure to forward those on to the coach so he can plan.
