The safety of our players and families is of utmost importance to the league. This is why we have partnered with USA Baseball to have all board members, and any coaches/parents who will be working with players complete the recommended training and certifications suggested by USA Baseball.
The Adult Awareness training and other certifications are free and should only take 30 minutes to complete. If you have completed this as a volunteer with HVABSA in the past year, you do not need to complete it twice.
All Background checks starting in spring 2026 must be completed via our Sports Connect system. This is to ensure proper visibility of all adults who are assisting with youth in HVABSA.
Please complete the below mandatory training:
1. Complete a FREE background check through our online system. This must be done every 12 months when volunteering with the league. Link to register for HVABSA Background Checks
2. Complete Adult Abuse Awareness through USA Baseball. This must be done every 12 months when volunteering with the league.
3. Additional training and certifications are required for coaches and highly recommended for all parents.

USA Baseball’s BASE (Baseball Athlete Safety Education) program is a zero-tolerance campaign for any type of abuse within the sport of baseball. As a BASE organization, all coaches are required to complete a standard background check and Abuse Awareness for Adults course. Please follow the instructions below to become BASE Compliant.

1. Create an Account or Sign in to USABDevelops.com
a. Go to USABDevelops.com or the download the USA Baseball App from your cellphone app store.
b. Click “Sign in/Register”
c. Enter all information marked with a red asterisk when creating an account
d. Select Highland Village Area Baseball & Softball from the “Organizations” drop down menu and click +Join
e. If you have an existing account, click “Update Profile” to register with your organization
2. Complete Abuse Awareness for Adults course:
a. Click EDUCATION
b. Select CERTIFICATIONS → MY CERTIFICATIONS → AVAILABLE CERTIFICATIONS
c. Find “BASE Compliance” and click “+Enroll”
d. Select “View Details”
e. Click “Abuse Awareness for Adults” → “+Enroll” → “Go to Course”
f. Complete the course
